Cécile Lourens was born in Cold Spring, New York to an electrician father and a savvy business woman mother-- who together own and operate a popular inn in town with the help of their eldest daughter, Claire. When it came to their newest addition, who we now know as Cécile, her parents had all their fingers and toes crossed in hopes of a boy. Instead, they received her. Luckily for the Lourens', they already given birth to a girl a few years prior and knew how to handle the female sex (which is essentially why they desired a boy). In spite of her and her sister's innate need to wear bows and paint their nails, her parents loved both of their children with the intensity of a thousand suns and often aided them in any way possible as they grew up and continue to do so, in spite of Cécile's protests.

Growing up in Cold Spring was, in Cécile's words, "drudgingly boring." Surprisingly, the girl didn't exactly mind. In fact, Cécile welcomed the normality after a viewing of The Munsters. She was always diligent school-wise, even if she often had her name written on the board for talking out of turn - a habit she still hasn't kicked. She wasn't the smartest in her class, but she worked hard and spent most of her time studying, watching cartoons or pretending to study while watching cartoons. This continued throughout high school and subsequently through college. "Boys? what the heck are those?" An actual quote from our Cécile at age 14.

With a village population of around 2,000, it was only normal that every neighbor knew everything. This made sneaking around and staying out past curfew next to impossible. Not that she was the type to rebel, or anything, but every sane teenager wanted to stay out past midnight on the weekends, right? This non-rebellious stage didn't last very long and Cécile found herself butting heads with not only her sister, but her parents on numerous occasions as well.

After high school, this growing rift caused her to moved away from home for the first time to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology. Transitioning from a small town to a bustling, busy city was quite the culture shock for Cécile. While away at school, she spent her more of her Freshman days than she'd like to admit moping around her dorm room, missing her family and wishing she had a teleportation machine or at the very least, a flying car a la The Jetsons, especially she had left them on not so great terms. This feeling soon went away as they reconciled and she began to thrive on being independent.

Cécile finished attending RIT and received her Master's degree in hospitality and tourism management, with a minor in event management. After graduating, she decided she wanted a change of scenery and found herself in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. She currently works as an assistant to a fairly small event planning company located in Manhattan. The positive side to being her boss's bitch entails getting to help plan parties, weddings and special events for various types of companies, universities and even private events for lesser known celebrities. This allows her to network quite often and meet new people through her job, which is always a plus.

facts - recently got promoted from assistant event planner to event planner. finally, she's able to drop the damn "assistant" from her title
